Breaking News is a term used for any recent news event that involves major news events and is not necessarily related to a specific topic. The term “breaking news” is often interchanged with “late-breaking news,” “special report,” or “news flash” to describe the most important stories of the moment. Breaking news usually involves a live story that will be of general interest to the viewing public. However, the term is often used after a news organization has already reported on the story. Another term for breaking news is “Just In.”
Despite the current political climate, a number of local events are still relevant and worth mentioning. For example, the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Office of Undergraduate Admissions hosted almost 100 admitted students from diverse backgrounds for its spring 2022 Research Grants for Graduate Students, which are valued at $500. These grants support graduate students’ research and creative activities and help them create original works of research. In other news, the College of Arts and Sciences of SIUE Edwardsville launched the Digital Media Literacy Post-Baccaureate Certificate, which can be earned in one summer, online.
