Jordan: ‘No amount of training is going to change what we saw in that video’

“These five individuals did not have any respect for life. … But I don’t know that there’s anything you can do to stop the kind of evil we saw in that video,” House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) said about the police beating death of Tyre Nichols in an exclusive interview with Meet the Press.

In a nutshell, news streaming is a lot like cable television. But where TV broadcasters have enjoyed a lucrative business for decades, streaming could soon become a booming industry of its own.

Streaming networks are already producing some of the most popular news content in the nation. These channels offer live and archived content, documentaries, and news analysis.

There’s a reason why Netflix, Hulu, and other streaming services have grown so fast. They’re repurposing the best parts of traditional cable. That’s not to say that cable has lost its relevance. The cable networks have invested hundreds of millions of dollars in streaming efforts.

For instance, NBC News Now boasts a staggering 31 million hours of content per month. This includes reruns and documentaries, plus a handful of original programs.

But the true value of streaming news is its ability to provide users with a personalized experience. A user can block certain topics, and express their thoughts on an issue of interest. Streaming also makes it possible to view news anytime, anywhere.

Other news-related feats of jubilance include the fact that the average person spends more time watching streaming programming than broadcast news. And while cable was criticized for its lack of viewers, streaming could help to reverse that trend.

Of course, one should also mention the plethora of new choices that could fuel polarization in the media. As a result, some argue that online video streaming is the future of political news coverage.
