Trending is a feature of Current News that talks about some of the most popular articles on the site.

Breaking news is an event or story of significant importance that requires immediate coverage and which warrants the interruption of current non-news programming (or, in the case of network affiliates broadcasting a live national newscast, a pause in the program for those stations to join the network feed). Typically, the eponymous breaking news graphic appears onscreen with a distinctive music cue. It may be accompanied by a news anchor or, in the case of major events such as the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, a special report from a news correspondent on the scene.
