When an event happens that is so newsworthy as to warrant interrupting regular programming, a special break-in report may be broadcast. This typically consists of an alert crawl or a “Newsflash” graphic overlaid with a distinctive music cue, along with a countdown sequence to allow network affiliate stations to join the feed.
