About Trending

Breaking news refers to significant developments that occur as events are happening and that must be reported immediately. It often interrupts regular news programming to deliver important updates on unfolding stories. Due to its urgency, breaking news often demands quick and constant updates, which may be achieved through real-time reporting, eyewitness accounts, and social media. This type of reporting raises ethical concerns, such as the need for speed versus the obligation to report truthfully and avoid sensationalism. Moreover, ethical considerations exist regarding respect for victims’ privacy and the need to protect those involved in tragedies. Discuss these issues with the class.
