Trending is a section in Current News that discusses current events and trends. It’s also where you can find the latest news about your favorite celebrities, politicians and other topics.

Breaking news is a breaking story that requires immediate coverage. Until the advent of 24-hour news networks, broadcasters would interrupt regular non-news programming (and occasionally their own regularly scheduled newscasts) when there was an urgent story that demanded nationwide attention. This was normally reserved for major news events such as the assassination of John F. Kennedy, a disaster that warranted national coverage and required numerous stations to interrupt their own programs to cover it. During breaking news events, network affiliates typically use countdown sequences to alert viewers of the break in programming. They also typically run a special ticker or newsflash graphic to announce the interruption.
