All three passengers on board a Cessna 172 airplane were killed when it hit the second floor of a house in Hermantown, Minnesota near Duluth. The home’s occupants were not hurt and an investigation is underway to determine the crash’s cause.

In recent years, SIUE has also seen record-breaking enrollment figures. The university’s fall 2022 enrollment totals are 44 percent higher than last year. SIUE is also increasing its international enrollment by 67% over the previous year. These impressive numbers show the university’s dedication to improving the lives of students in the community.
In addition to addressing the critical shortage of forensic scientists in the area, SIUE is also supporting reform and advancing criminal justice research. To help address these concerns, the campus is teaming up with the Illinois State Police, the City of Belleville, and Southwestern Illinois College. The project is the result of Governor J.B. Pritzker’s support of educational efforts in the region.
