It’s a great time to be an alumni or a current student at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. The university is hosting a multitude of events including a gala for the school’s alumni and students, a grand opening of its new campus, a virtual tour, and a fun-filled Homecoming celebration.
Chancellor James T. Minor threw a late-night breakfast for students to celebrate the occasion. Also, the school’s Engineering department joined with the Enterprise Holdings Foundation for a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the completion of a $1.5 million renovation to the Engineering Building’s atrium.
The School of Public Health’s Institute of Healthcare Informatics has a well-deserved reputation for developing data-driven solutions to the challenges facing public health in our nation’s most vulnerable communities. This includes providing the latest news and information about health-related initiatives, research, and education.
The aforementioned ceremony was the apex of a monthlong celebration. This included the unveiling of a special collection of historical research, a visit from alumni and friends, and an open house for prospective students.
While the university’s new facilities and reopening date is a few weeks away, the university is already looking to the future. This includes plans to host a grand opening of the campus in 2022. In addition, the school has a plethora of student and faculty-related programs and activities.
The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Educational Leadership program has been recognized for its accomplishments with a number of prestigious awards. In fact, 10 students were selected for the illustrious ISLPP (Illinois School Leadership Pipeline Program) which is a state-wide initiative to identify and prepare high-potential candidates to succeed in Illinois’ schools.
