Streaming news has transformed the way we get our news. It is now possible to watch the news in the privacy of our own homes. The major news networks are investing hundreds of millions of dollars in streaming operations.

The new technology allows viewers to customize the experience. For example, users can block specific topics, express their emotions, and follow trending topics. This is different from cable, which requires viewers to match the programmers’ clocks.

In addition to reducing the scarcity of the media equation, streaming also makes news libraries more economical. If a network runs out of programming, it can archive it. As more people subscribe to streaming services, the networks will find it easier to reach a wider audience.

There are already three major streaming networks: CNN+, Fox Nation, and NBC News Now. These news outlets are all repurposing programming from their broadcast counterparts. They provide breaking news, reruns, documentaries, and analysis.

Several of the major streaming networks have already proven that they are popular with audiences. One of these, Fox Nation, attracted 1.5 million subscribers. Many consumers have shown that they are willing to pay for high-quality content.

However, there is a chance that some viewers will be hesitant to sign up for a subscription. In this case, they may switch channels instead. Some free news streamers are trying to lure consumers to cut the cord. But a multitude of choices could fuel polarization in the audience.
