For nine years in a row, SIUE has received INSIGHT Into Diversity’s Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award. This award recognizes colleges and universities for their achievements in diversity and leadership.
To celebrate INSIGHT Into Diversity’s award, SIUE will host a variety of events. One of these is a ceremony to honor a former student and alumnus. The event will take place at the Morris University Center’s International Room.
The other is a late night breakfast held by SIUE Chancellor James T. Minor. A third is an invitation to the campus community to attend the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. celebration luncheon.
Another notable achievement was the university’s new Douglas and Betty Noverr Collection of Walt Whitman’s Journalism. The collection features a special collection of historical research about the poet. It also contains an eloquent letter from Douglas Noverr, a noted Whitman scholar.
There are many other awards and recognitions that have recently been awarded to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. However, these are the most important and interesting.
Besides, the aforementioned award and event, SIUE is kicking off its 2022 homecoming with a bang. Starting on January 3, the university will host a number of in-person and virtual events. Some of the events will focus on raising awareness for the university and its programs and initiatives.
Other notable events include the unveiling of a new and improved Enterprise Holdings Foundation atrium. The atrium was renovated with a $1.5 million donation from the foundation.
