For many, the most important news of the year was the death of Loretta Lynn. This was surprising because she was one of the most popular artists in history.
Other notable deaths of the year included Queen Elizabeth II and Jerry Lee Lewis. According to a recent survey, 45 percent of adults couldn’t believe some stories in the news.
Another interesting news story of the year involved a student who studied criminal justice and wanted to become a police officer. He used nostalgia to engage the public.
Another example is a virtual event hosted by Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. In conjunction with the University’s Educational Leadership program, 10 students have been selected to participate in the Illinois School Leadership Pipeline Program.
One of the most exciting fields of research is in the field of digital humanities. This field often focuses on communicating complex topics to a wide audience. As such, the Digital Humanities Student Showcase was held in the fall of this year, where students displayed their innovative uses of digital tools.
Lastly, the American College Personnel Association recognized the achievements of higher education and student affairs professionals. Its Higher Education Excellence in Diversity award recognizes colleges and universities in the United States.
