Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is celebrating its kick off to homecoming on January 3. A ceremonial ribbon cutting was held by the school’s engineering department and Enterprise Holdings Foundation. The event showcased the renovated atrium in the Engineering Building.

On the academic front, the IRIS Center hosted the fall Digital Humanities Student Showcase. It was an impressive display of student achievement and innovation.

Several other academic organizations also made news. One of them was the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Educational Leadership program’s selection of ten students for the Illinois School Leadership Pipeline Program.

Some of the university’s faculty and staff are notably unheralded, but the work they do often goes unnoticed. SIUE received a special collection of historical research in the form of the Douglas and Betty Noverr Collection of Walt Whitman’s Journalism.

Other notables included the AAEM’s announcement of its new 2020 EM Residency Guidelines, and the AAEM’s support of a new security treaty with Australia and Papua New Guinea.
