If you are one of the millions of television viewers that watch Current News, you should know that the audience for traditional cable TV is diminishing. In fact, the share of cable subscribers dropped from 76 percent in 2015 to 56 percent in 2021. Even Fox News channel is losing $20 a year because viewers are turning to streaming services. Today, 85 percent of American households subscribe to a streaming service. But the future of traditional news is uncertain. As a result, current news outlets are looking for new ways to compete for audience share.

For the spring 2022, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions announced Research Grants for Graduate Students, valued at $500 each. These grants support graduate students who engage in creative and research activities. In addition, the College of Arts and Sciences recently hosted the first in-person convocation since the spring of 2019. Throughout the day, the university celebrated the accomplishments of 303 students, awarding 357 scholarships and a Certificate in Digital Media Literacy.

Continuing the commencement ceremonies this weekend, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville will celebrate the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and the School of Engineering. Chancellor James T. Minor will preside over the ceremony, which honors 2,356 eligible graduates. The University’s honorary awards ceremony will also honor six IAPP students. As a part of the commencement ceremonies, the awardees will be honored with an honorary plaque and $100.
