Current News is a breaking news service that specializes in the latest breaking stories, including news about politics, science, and sports. It also includes news from around the world.

Generally, breaking news refers to the most significant or urgent news story of the moment. The term may be used interchangeably with “special report” and/or “news flash”.

Breaking news on television usually begins with an opening graphic that emphasizes the significance of the event. This is usually followed by an anchor welcoming the viewer to the broadcast.

If the breaking news involves a major national or international story, it may be followed by live shots of the event from the scene. The story may be accompanied by an analyst or other journalist providing analysis and reporting on the event.

For local news, stations will sometimes interrupt their regular programming for a brief period of time to cover the event. This can be a time saver for the station and is usually set up by an internal alert service utilized by a station’s master control, which may include a countdown for affiliates to join in on the network feed (such as NBC’s “The Pulse of Events”).

The outro typically features a brief video or graphic, reminding viewers that there will be more details coming on their local news that day or a full wrap-up on the network’s morning or evening news program (if applicable). For breaking news that happens during an episode of a show that has already been in progress, that segment or a portion of it will probably be pre-empted for the event.
