The McKinney Fire has only been burning for two days, but it’s already scorched more than 51,000 acres, officials said.
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville recently hosted a campus visit event for multicultural and admitted students. The event provided a chance for them to interact with current students, tour campus, and learn about the school. The College of Arts and Sciences recently announced the creation of a new post-baccalaureate certificate in Digital Media Literacy. The certificate is designed to be completed online in one summer. Commencement exercises at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville continue today and will celebrate the graduating students in the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering. Chancellor James T. Minor will lead a series of seven commencement ceremonies honoring the university’s 2,356 graduates in the College of Arts and Sciences and its College of Science. Students presenting awards will receive honorary plaques and a $100 prize. The event also features the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Alumni Association, whose members were in attendance to honor the incoming class.
