California facing tenth storm system since Christmas

A lot has changed in the world of current news. For one thing, it’s more affordable for consumers. Plus, streaming allows you to watch any time, any place.
Another great thing about streaming is that it reduces the scarcity factor in the media equation. This means that new players can get into the business and earn a piece of the pie.
Streaming networks aren’t just repurposing cable programming, but also experimenting with new programming formats. One example is NBC News Now, a free app that produces 10 hours of programming a day.
Other streaming networks have cropped up, such as CBS, Newsy, and ABC. They are repurposing some of their broadcast programming, while also offering documentaries and news analysis.
Free news streamers are promoting cable quality news and trying to convince consumers that they can cut their cable subscription and still have access to news. However, if you’re going to cut the cord, you might want to consider the cost. The cost to subscribe to cable news is $20 a year, and the cost to subscribe to a free news app isn’t much higher.
As with any business, there are risks. Streaming could attract overtly political news operations that reshape news coverage. In addition, there are commercial-averse viewers that may not be willing to pay for TV news.
While the free news streamers are likely to win over viewers, the biggest winners will be the major news networks, who will be the first to capitalize on the streaming trend.
