Streaming video has changed the way we experience current news. It allows us to watch the news on the go. The news is delivered based on the viewer’s demand.

Streaming also makes building news libraries economical. As more people become familiar with the content, the stories receive more coverage.

News is influenced by social and cultural trends. News is also shaped by the values and professional norms of journalists. In the United Kingdom, for instance, broadcasters are expected to remain neutral and provide impartial coverage.

Free news streamers are offering viewers a taste of cable-quality news. They are hoping to get a share of the $3 billion profit the networks make from subscriptions.

Online video is set to disrupt the political news scene. Streaming will give new overtly political news operations a chance to gain a foothold. However, online streaming isn’t bound by costly negotiations with cable companies.

In the 20th century, television was an important way to transmit news. During that time, news on radio could only report yesterday’s news. Print was stuck in time, though. When it spread, it was used to announce events.

But then in the 1980s, Ted Turner’s Cable News Network jumped into the TV news business. It wasn’t the first free news outlet, but it was the first to try to take advantage of the technology.

As more people began watching on the go, cable networks noticed momentum. Eventually, the channels were able to repurpose programming from their linear broadcasts for their streamers.
