A judge has dismissed most of Blake Lively’s lawsuit against her “This Ends With Us” co-star Justin Baldoni. Federal Judge Lewis J. Liman tossed out 10 of Lively’s 13 claims against Baldoni, including harassment, defamation and conspiracy.

Breaking news is a type of television and radio program coverage that focuses on an event that is developing or just occurred, often in the form of a live cut-in from a network news program. If an event is serious enough to warrant breaking news, the network will alert its affiliates, and the current non-news programming will be paused with a countdown sequence for stations to switch to the feed. Then a graphic and distinctive music cue will play, and the news anchor will introduce the story at hand. In addition to a break in programming, a special alert crawl may be displayed on lower thirds and other graphics.
Until the rise of 24-hour news networks, such interruptions were reserved only for extremely urgent events like the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, or other events that elicited nationwide concern and required numerous local stations to interrupt their own regular news coverage to broadcast the latest developments. Today, such breaks are less frequent as network programs now use their Special Report tickers to provide ongoing coverage of breaking stories during regularly scheduled programming, lessening the need for cut-ins.
