The department’s Deputy Chief, Justin Lieberman, has been with the team for over 20 years. Previously, he served as a police officer, detective, patrol sergeant, lieutenant, and captain. He was appointed after the retirement of long-time chief Kevin Schmoll. Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s School of Engineering recently received the Rising Star Award for an applied engineering challenge. The school placed fourth internationally.
