Netflix saw a drop in its global subscribers but the news wasn’t all bad. The streaming service lost nearly a million subscribers in the last three months. The company had predicted that it would lose two million subscribers. As a result of the news the stock moved higher. And more growth could be on the way with an advertising tier likely to launch early next year.

It’s easy to spot a trending story because it’s popular, but the impact it has on society is often minimal.
When breaking news occurs during prime time, it can interrupt a program, particularly one with limited time to air. A recent example is ABC’s coverage of a missile strike in Syria. This interruption caused Scandal to be delayed. Likewise, other shows on television are likely to be interrupted when breaking news occurs. A network’s broadcast may also be interrupted by a special event affecting local news. It’s best to keep viewers informed about any upcoming interruptions and plans.
Breaking news anchors may be present during live coverage of a breaking story. This may be a reminder to viewers to check out network or local news coverage. They may also be on the air when a story breaks, so the news anchors can tell viewers to check out the network’s website or local cable news channels for more updates. In a live situation, the network may continue the live shot of the anchor, and the local news station may cut away to show the story on video.
