Manhunt Underway After 70-Year-Old Couple Found Dead In Marshfield, Mass.
Streaming news has arrived on demand, allowing viewers to tune in and watch the news when they want. As a result, viewers spend more time watching streaming programs than they do watching broadcast TV. In fact, 85 percent of American households subscribe to at least one streaming service.
Streaming news is delivered in a format that looks and feels like conventional television. It also offers viewers a wide variety of options, allowing them to choose a newscast they enjoy. Some of the major streaming networks repurpose programming from cable, while others offer documentaries and news analysis.
There are also local streaming news stations. Local stations have the option to break away from the network feed and begin newscasts during the evening. Some newscasters have reported that network talent will give local stations a heads up when a story breaks, letting them know to expect more coverage and details from their local news team.
Local stations may also join the network feed on an “extended edition” of the program. This can happen when the program stretches to 20 or 45 minutes. During these programs, regular commercial advertising may be suspended in favor of sustained coverage.
There are also special reports. These are generally short and usually feature an internal alert service. Usually, they will feature a brief opening graphic or music. After the announcement, the graphic will be rolled out again.
Another form of breaking news is a live shot of an anchor. The network may continue to show the live shot during the coverage. After the coverage ends, the network may switch to previous programming.
