April 17: Stocks Rally on Strait Opening and Dem Challengers Outraise Incumbents

The term breaking news may refer to:
A breaking story is a current event of significance that requires the interruption of non-news programming (or, in the case of network television news broadcasts, regular network newscasts) to provide information and analysis. Breaking news is often delivered via a graphic with distinctive music cues, and accompanied by a voice-over from a news anchor. Historically, programming interruptions were limited to national events that required nationwide coverage, such as the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy in 1963, and a special report or “Newsflash” ticker would be displayed over station imaging and lower thirds to indicate that the program has been temporarily interrupted.
