Trending Talks about Current News
When an event occurs that warrants immediate, extensive news coverage, broadcasters typically interrupt other non-news programming or a network-affiliated regular local newscast to deliver breaking news. In cases of breaking news requiring nationwide coverage, the network may also use a special graphics package that alerts its affiliates to the story with an announcement asking them to “stand by.” In recent years, some networks have implemented Breaking News tickers during regularly scheduled news programs, eliminating the need for cut-ins. Often, this includes a countdown sequence, which is similar to the graphic used by CBS News on the day of John F. Kennedy’s assassination.
