The term “current news” has several different meanings. It is a term used to describe a story that is happening at the time you are reading or watching it. It can also be referred to a special report, news flash, or special coverage. In either case, breaking news is a term that describes the most important story of the moment. The term can also refer to a story that is of wide interest to a large number of viewers, and it is most often used after a news organization has already reported the story. The alternative term, “Just In,” is sometimes used instead of “breaking news.”

Local stations may be given an opportunity to break away from the network feed and begin their evening newscasts. In this case, they will receive a cue from the network talent to pause the coverage and re-join the feed. After the broadcast, the opening graphic will be rolled again. Meanwhile, the network may use the opportunity to disseminate the breaking news to other stations and platforms. Afterward, the local station will likely be back to its network feed or join the “extended edition” of the broadcast.

The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s College of Arts and Sciences hosted a reception on April 4 where admitted students from the university’s graduate school attended. The reception was attended by nearly 100 students, most of whom were from underrepresented minority groups. In addition, the university’s College of Arts and Sciences recently held its 2022 Honors Day convocation, in which 303 students received awards. The event also marked the first live in-person convocation since COVID-19.
