For decades, TV news has lived on cable. But as streaming enters the news business, it is set to reshape the way political news is covered.

Streaming offers the advantage of reaching audiences anywhere, and of delivering the news in a more customized way. In addition, it provides timely news delivery. Streaming has proven to be a popular option for news outlets looking to attract niche audiences.

As new streaming networks emerge, it seems that one company is gaining ground on the competition. The Fox News Channel has already gained 1.5 million subscribers to its Fox Nation streaming app.

With the rise of online video, it is likely that the Fox News Channel will be among the first to offer online video news. This would put the network in a position to compete with CNN, MSNBC, and others.

Although it is unlikely that any of these channels will be able to compete with traditional broadcast news coverage, they may be able to capture the attention of partisan viewers. And they will have the advantage of no longer being bound by the strict rules of traditional television.

During his tenure as President of CBS News, Bill Leonard questioned why anyone would watch Ted Turner’s Cable News Network. When he began, CNN was accused of not having enough viewers. However, the rapid adoption of cable TV showed that the audience for television news was shifting.

Similarly, a study conducted by Princeton University scholar Markus Prior showed that viewers were more inclined to pay for TV news when they had a variety of options. They also avoided news that challenged their beliefs.
