Streaming news is changing the news business. Long-gestating cultural trends have come together to give streaming news an edge.

The emergence of streaming networks has been a boon to niche audiences. These new outlets offer viewers a custom-tailored news experience. This allows them to watch anytime, anywhere. And it’s also made building news libraries easier and more economical.

The major streaming networks are repurposing programming from cable. They’re offering news analysis, reruns, documentaries and more. They’re also chasing breaking news.

One example is CBS’s entry into the news streaming business. The network recently added a new channel called CASE xChange. The channel’s episodes are twice as long as nightly news. It also has an overtly political focus.

ABC has also entered the business. Its digital subscription includes a copy of CASE’s award winning magazine Currents. It has six country-specific supplements. The channel’s homepage includes links to the most important media outlets in the world.

MSNBC is another partisan outlet. The station has been in business for nearly 40 years. In addition to its newscasts, it’s also home to a number of blogs, white papers, books and newsletters.

The news business has been a profitable one for cable broadcasters. In fact, cable news networks like CNN and MSNBC have made billions of dollars. They entered the news streaming business because they realized a technological advantage would allow them to serve a streaming audience.

One of the major streaming networks, Fox, has also attracted 1.5 million subscribers to its Fox Nation streaming app. This has allowed the network to lose a $20 yearly fee.
