Firefighters in Southern California are battling the fast-moving Springs Fire east of Los Angeles. The latest blaze comes after a dry winter across multiple western states and a record-breaking heat wave out west. NBC News’ Morgan Chesky has the latest.
About Current News
Trending is a short, recurring segment that features the stories attracting the most attention on social media. It may be delivered in a single, stand-alone video or as an overlaid graphic during regular programming. When the story breaks, a network will often interrupt its non-news programing and ask its affiliate stations to stand by for breaking news coverage to take place. Depending on the urgency of the event, the station’s regular commercial advertising will be interrupted as well. Before the advent of 24-hour news networks, break-ins were normally reserved for extremely urgent events such as the assassination of John F. Kennedy, or for ongoing severe weather conditions such as a tornado warning. Occasionally, the same effect would be conveyed using a special alert crawl during regular programing.
