Trending is a feature that highlights the most popular stories on Current News.
Breaking news is a type of television and radio news coverage that is urgent enough to warrant interrupting regular programming for. This is typically done when a major event occurs that requires nationwide coverage and prompts numerous stations to stop their normal non-news programming for extended live news coverage. Breaking news may be accompanied by a special graphics package and distinctive music cue, and a countdown sequence for network affiliates to join the national feed. Alternatively, the breaking story may be covered via a ticker, lessening the need for cut-ins or special reports.
