After the death of Dr. Seuss in 1991, author Tish Rabe was asked to step in and help carry on his legacy. She has written dozens of books for the Seuss franchise, not to mention several other books embraced by kids everywhere. On this “Read Across America Week,” she joined NBC News NOW’s Joe Fryer to talk about her journey and also spoke about her two new books – one of them focused on New York City’s famous Central Park.

A breaking news story is a current event that requires the interruption of regular programming. The breaking news event may last only a few minutes, or can continue for hours or even days. If a national network newscast is in progress when the news breaks, the station will alert affiliates to stand by for an immediate interruption. Once the break is over, the network will return to its regular newscast.
