If you’re an alumni of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, you may have noticed the excitement brewing around the campus. The university has officially kicked off its 2022 Homecoming celebrations. It’s now time for the school to welcome its new students and the community to the campus.

SIUE’s Educational Leadership program has selected 10 students to be a part of the ISLPP, or Illinois School Leadership Pipeline Program. This program aims to provide leadership to local schools. Many of the students selected come from diverse communities throughout the state. They will be mentored by educators and administrators from the University.

As the semester approaches, the University will host a virtual event, which will be followed by an in-person ceremony. The celebration luncheon will be held at the Meridian Ballroom of the Morris University Center on the Edwardsville campus. A musical performance will follow, and there will be a keynote speaker.

For the past nine years, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville has been a recipient of the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity. This award recognizes the university’s commitment to diversity and student success.

Additionally, SIUE received a special collection of historical research and Walt Whitman’s journalism from the Douglas and Betty Noverr Collection of Journalism. In addition to the collection, a ribbon cutting was held in the Engineering Building to celebrate the donation of $1.5 million by Enterprise Holdings Foundation.

The University also announced the board of directors for 2020, as well as the 2020-2021 residency guidelines for emergency medicine (EM). The Association of American Emergency Medicine (AAEM) also announced a joint letter to Congress urging them to include EM in the national health reform package.
