About Trending
A newsflash, special report or breaking news is a television or radio program interruption that breaks into regular non-news programming to break an urgent story, often for the purpose of delivering severe weather information or other events that could present an immediate threat or danger. The newsflash is usually announced using a distinctive graphic overlay and accompanied by a short countdown sequence, to allow network affiliates to switch to the new feed. In recent years, some major networks have also begun to use “Special Report” tickers on certain breaking stories during regularly scheduled programs, lessening the need for cut-ins.

And a Utah jury convicts Kouri Richins for poisoning her husband with the opioid fentanyl. NPR looks at these and other stories that are making headlines this week. We’re also revisiting the infamous Neverland ranch and the eerily similar case of Michael Jackson’s former home.
