As a member of the Association of American Medical Colleges, AAEM is involved in the education of physicians. It is the oldest such organization in the United States and currently reviews and approves all medical schools.
In the higher education world, a number of institutions are achieving the highest possible distinctions. These include the American College Personnel Association’s recognition of a long-standing commitment to student affairs. Other notable awards include the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity, an organization dedicated to the advancement of diversity in U.S. colleges and universities.
Another noteworthy accomplishment is the launch of SIUE’s ISLPP, or the Illinois School Leadership Pipeline Program. The program has selected 10 students for its leadership pipeline from throughout the state. A group of these future leaders will be honored at a luncheon hosted by the Inclusive Excellence, Education and Development Hub.
SIUE’s campus kicked off its 2022 Homecoming celebration in the fall. Alumni and friends of the university came back to the campus to reconnect and wish the students well on their final semester. Additionally, SIUE’s School of Engineering joined with the Enterprise Holdings Foundation in a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
This fall, the IRIS Center hosted a digital humanities student showcase. In this competition, students demonstrated how they utilized digital methods to communicate complex ideas to a wide audience. Some of the winning entries targeted well-defined audiences, such as parents.
