The American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) has created regional chapters in Maryland and Virginia. The AAEM and the American Medical Association have also formed an EM Pain and Procedural Committee, a partnership that aims to increase access to pain-relief medicine in emergency departments. AAEM also plans to work with other organizations to improve the quality of healthcare for emergency patients.
Homecoming festivities at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville continued last weekend, with alumni and friends returning to campus. The university has also achieved the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity for nine consecutive years. This honor is one of the top awards given to U.S. colleges and universities to support diversity and inclusion initiatives.
