What is Current News? Current events that have recently happened and may still happen are called breaking news. Such news can interrupt existing programming and new programming, especially if it is highly rated and has a limited airing time. For example, a missile attack on the USS Shayrat in April 2017 interrupted an episode of ABC’s Scandal. Breaking news can also be referred to as “late breaking news,” “special report,” “news flash,” and “just in.”

Unlike traditional television, current news is updated throughout the day and includes information from the previous year as well as recent news. The “Recent News” section lists news from the past year, and you can sort the articles by bold column headings. To view older news, click the “Archived News” tab. A list of news dating back to 2008 is available. Once you’ve sorted through the news, scroll down to the bottom of the list and select a specific story to read.

A recent two-week shutdown of government offices and schools in Sri Lanka resulted in a complete meltdown of public transport, as officials could not afford to purchase fuel. As a result, the Public Administration ministry ordered skeleton services from Monday, as fuel shortages continue to threaten public services. Meanwhile, the US Food and Drug Administration has approved two COVID-19 vaccines for infants as young as six months. The current heat wave is a hazard that could cause death and illness.
