While TV news has existed on cable and the airwaves for decades, millennials and Gen Z have become the primary audience for online streaming news services. In fact, streaming has become ubiquitous, with 85 percent of American households subscribing to one or more streaming services. Streaming has also made it possible to distribute content anywhere, anytime. Today, the future of television news lies in the millennial and Gen Z viewership. While the broadcast network will continue to exist, streaming will be its primary competitor.
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville hosted an open house for almost 100 admitted students from diverse backgrounds to learn more about the college. The students got the chance to meet current students, tour campus, and interact with campus faculty and staff. In other Current News, the College of Arts and Sciences at SIUE held its first live in-person convocation since the start of the 2019 academic year. It also celebrated the college’s new Digital Media Literacy Post-Baccaureate Certificate.
