Trending is a news feature that highlights the most popular stories of the day as determined by reader clicks. It’s a good way to see what the public is talking about and share your own opinions on stories you think are important.

Breaking news is a term used to describe an event that occurs so suddenly and urgently that it requires an immediate interruption of current non-news programming (or, in the case of a network newscast, the pause of the broadcast) to provide live coverage. Such reporting typically begins with a countdown sequence, indicating to all affiliates that the breaking story is coming up.
