The world has been shaped by news for millennia. Government proclamations, scandals, and war have all been covered. Today’s news has many different forms. Broadcast, print, and social media have all influenced the way stories are reported.

One of the most important developments in the transmission of news during the 20th century was radio. It was a much more convenient way to get information to the masses.

But the technology was still in its infancy. Television and cable TV came along, one-upping broadcast with live events.

By the end of the century, the boundaries of news making were blurring. News organizations began to combine for-profit and non-profit media, and new models of newsmaking emerged.

A model of news making focuses on how a story is crafted to impact readers. For example, a headline might read “James Madison’s death is a scandal.” This is followed by an article with the relevant facts. Ultimately, the impact of a news story is determined by how the audience reacts to the news.

Historically, broadcast news has been profitable. However, the growth of streaming news and other innovations in the media have increased the speed at which news can spread. Streaming news reduces the scarcity of news by arriving when viewers need it.

Streaming news also offers the ability to archive content. It makes building a library of news economical. Furthermore, it is able to travel wherever a viewer goes.

Streaming networks have also been known to repurpose programming from their broadcast partners. In addition, they often schedule regular nightly news programs. These stations offer news analysis and documentaries.
