This is a good time to check out the latest news and events from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. The university has been hosting a series of activities to welcome back alumni and friends and kick off 2022 homecoming.

SIUE Chancellor James T. Minor kicked off the festivities with a “lunch for one” and a late night breakfast for the students. During this special event, students were presented with a new collection of historical research. Among the treasures on display are the Douglas and Betty Noverr Collection of Walt Whitman’s Journalism.

Other highlights of the day included a $1.5 million donation to the Enterprise Holdings Foundation to renovate the Engineering Building’s atrium. In addition, the school joined the Foundation for a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The SIUE community also wished their students well for the fall semester. On January 3rd, the university will reopen in earnest after the long holiday break.

While the IRIS Center and the University’s Educational Leadership program may be the focal points of the university, the campus is also home to several other award-winning organizations. One such group is the Center for Advanced Science and Education (CASE), which publishes an award-winning magazine called Currents, a blog, newsletters, and a multitude of other media. Aside from its own news, entertainment, and sports sections, CASE has several off-campus partners as well.

CASE has also been recognized as the leading publisher of scientific and technical publications by the National Institutes of Health. It is also a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the International Association of Science Editors, and the Association of Academic Publishers.
