Current News is a form of information provided by a variety of media outlets. It may also be called “hard news” to distinguish it from soft media. Examples of common topics of news include government, business, education, and health. Entertainment news, as well as quirky events, are also commonly reported. In ancient times, news was generally the result of government proclamations and events. Throughout history, technology has increased the speed of communication and expanded the range of news content.
The internet has also become a major propagation channel for news, particularly during government crackdowns. Traditional media outlets are easy to shut down, but mobile devices are difficult to track, allowing citizen journalists to continue their reporting. This has created a new breed of journalist, the citizen journalist. Today’s journalists have different methods of gathering and analyzing news, but they all have the same aim: to inform and influence the public.
While current news is a major component of any media, some news organizations have created specialized websites and news apps to serve their audiences. For example, the news app NewsBreak enables users to follow trending topics and block out content they don’t want to read. Moreover, it allows users to upvote, comment, and reply to news items. The Internet has become a free ground for sharing opinions and emotions, and this app is no different.
In other current news, the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville named a new assistant director for student conduct, Mindy Kinnaman, who has over 20 years of experience in higher education. She previously served as the director of Student Life at Front Range Community College in Westminster, Colo. She oversaw the day-to-day operations of the Student Life department. In addition to working in student affairs, Kinnaman competed in a Baja SAE(r) competition this May, held at Tennessee Tech University.
