Trending is a weekly news segment on Current News that talks about topics currently popular or in the spotlight. This can include trending topics on social media, as well as things that are going viral across the country and the world.

Breaking news is a television or radio program that interrupts regular non-news or non-news-related programming to report on events of immediate significance. It is often accompanied by an audio announcement stating the nature of the event, with lower thirds or other graphics altered to convey a sense of urgency. Breaking news coverage may be interrupted for extended periods, such as for national emergencies or major news events such as the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963, which prompted nationwide coverage that required numerous stations to interrupt their schedules.
