In fact, over 85 percent of households in the United States subscribe to at least one streaming service. This has led to the creation of news libraries that are economical to build and deliver.
The news industry has seen its share of television viewers shrinking, and newscasters are worried that audiences are becoming increasingly fragmented. This has encouraged voters to settle deeper into political silos.
The news industry has invested hundreds of millions of dollars into streaming operations, hoping to attract a mass audience. Streaming has proved its worth, especially with niche audiences. Its success has allowed networks to repurpose programming from broadcast into a streaming format.
For instance, CBS News has developed an aggressive local streaming news strategy. The network is planning to beam 45,000 hours of local news to subscribers in 2022. The strategy has been so successful that Fox News has acquired 1.5 million subscribers for its Fox Nation streaming app.
