Trending is a feature on Current News that talks about things that are currently popular, trending or gaining attention. This may include social media trends, celebrities, music and more.
Breaking news is a news story that is so urgent and significant that it must interrupt regular non-news programming on television or radio or, in the case of national network newscasts, pause the ongoing program to begin reporting on it immediately. Until the advent of 24-hour news channels, such interruptions were usually reserved for extremely serious events, such as the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. They are typically announced with a graphic, accompanied by a distinctive music cue and, in some cases, a countdown sequence to allow network affiliates to join the feed as soon as possible.
