Streaming news has emerged as a major factor in the news cycle. It allows viewers to access news at their convenience, and it is expected to play a pivotal role in political coverage.
The arrival of streaming has ushered in a new era of news, and the major broadcast networks have invested hundreds of millions of dollars in the process. CBS, NBC, ABC, and Fox have all launched streaming services, and each has a high expectation of success.
As news outlets have entered the world of streaming, they’ve found it easy to attract a wide variety of audiences. In fact, it’s possible to find an outlet for just about any kind of news.
A variety of outlets are covering local, national, and international stories. Among them are First News Live, which offers a weekly live newscast; Fun Kids Radio, which produces podcasts; and News for Kids, which produces daily roundups of current news for kids.
These services are essentially telling viewers that they can cut their cable subscription and watch the news for free. While the newscasters are apprehensive about losing their audience, the technology offers them a chance to take the lead.
Historically, television news has been a profitable business. However, it’s also been a crowded field. Cable TV has done its best to one-up broadcast news with live events. This, in turn, has fueled a consumer demand for more choices.
Streaming has offered viewers the ability to watch their news when and where they want, and it has also benefited from long-gestating cultural trends. One result of this is that audiences have shifted away from entertainment and towards news.
