Trending is a category of stories that are popular on Current News. These articles can be seen on a variety of devices and platforms, including desktop computers, mobile phones, tablets and televisions. The term “trending” can also be used to refer to a particular news story that has been covered in the media for an extended period of time. In television, breaking news events are often preceded by a countdown sequence in which network affiliate stations are told to stand by for an interruption of regular programming (or, in the case of a national network newscast, to wait for a network feed). This is known as a “Newsflash” or a “Special report”. This can be followed by a special ticker that is overlaid on top of the current station imaging promo.
