This year, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Educational Leadership program selected 10 students for the Illinois School Leadership Pipeline Program (ISLPP). ISLPP is a state initiative that encourages aspiring principals to begin their careers by working in a variety of schools. From large urban districts to smaller rural ones, aspiring principals come from a wide range of communities.

In honor of the opening of the 2022 semester, SIUE Chancellor James T. Minor hosted a late-night breakfast for students. During the ceremony, the community wished the students well on their journey to success.

Students were joined by SIUE faculty, alumni and friends. The event included a ribbon cutting for the Enterprise Holdings Foundation atrium, which was recently renovated with a $1.5 million donation.

SIUE celebrated Native Heritage Month with an in-person and virtual opening ceremony. The event was held in the Meridian Ballroom at the Morris University Center on the Edwardsville campus. It also included a musical performance and an address by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Several administrators and students will be in attendance.

Earlier in the day, a ribbon cutting took place at the Engineering Building, which features the Enterprise Holdings Foundation atrium. The school of engineering and the foundation joined together for a special ribbon cutting.

SIUE will also observe a winter break from December 23 until January 2. The university will reopen on January 3 with an in-person and virtual celebration.
