Jury finds concert giant Live Nation acted as an illegal monopoly

A Manhattan jury sided with more than 30 states which argued Live Nation, the owner of Ticketmaster, is a “monopolistic bully.” The jury also ruled the company overcharged fans. NBC News’ Emilie Ikeda reports.

When an event occurs that requires a break in regular non-news programming, such as a major weather event or the assassination of a world leader, newscasts will usually interrupt their normal broadcast and immediately air a breaking news report. The national network feed will pause and countdown to allow its affiliate stations to join the newscast via satellite or other means, and then a special graphic with a distinct music cue is used to alert viewers of the breaking news. This may be accompanied by a news anchor, and in some cases lower thirds or other graphics may be altered to convey urgency. This type of break-in is often called a newsflash, special report or, on cable networks, a News On Demand alert or ticker.
