In an alarming escalation during the U.S. war with Iran, nuclear sites have been targeted after Iran says a uranium enrichment complex was attacked. If a story is breaking enough to warrant an interruption of non-news programming (or, in the case of network newscasts, regular commercial advertising), the network will issue a “Newsflash” or “Special Report” alert on their station imaging to let affiliates know to prepare for a break, and will usually count down to the actual break using a graphic and distinctive music cue.
