Oakland police: ‘Last Chance U’ football coach John Beam dead after campus shooting

Laney College athletic director and former football coach John Beam died Friday after being shot on the California campus the previous night. The shooting suspect was identified as Cedric Irving Jr., a 27-year-old former high school football player who was arrested without incident, police said.
