Breaking news is a term that describes urgent developments in current events that require immediate reporting. This type of news often interrupts regular programming to provide audiences with immediate updates, and it may feature eyewitness accounts or reactions from the public. This kind of news coverage demonstrates the importance of quick and accurate information, but it can also pose challenges when journalists report on breaking events as they occur without having time to thoroughly research and verify facts before releasing them to the public. Explore how this kind of reporting can affect accuracy, accountability, and sensationalism, and evaluate the role that social media plays in shaping the way that breaking news is reported and consumed.
