Trending is a section of Current News that covers the topics that are currently popular and highly searched on Google. This is a great way to find out what people are searching for on the internet and in the real world.

Breaking news is coverage of an urgent event that requires immediate or near-immediate attention. If the news event is significant enough to interrupt regular non-news programming, a network will usually alert affiliates and request them to stand by during a countdown sequence. This is commonly done for a breaking story such as the assassination of John F. Kennedy, which required nationwide interruptions of local television and radio stations for several hours.
